A Free Gift
Life beyond our physical time on earth can take one of two paths – forever in the presence of God, or not. In order to choose to be forever in God’s presence, He has asked us to do one thing… receive His free gift of life through Jesus Christ. “What does this mean?” is the question so often asked.
We have a choice to receive gifts offered to us. People reject gifts for a variety of reasons. However, no other gift that is offered to us has such far-reaching implications. By receiving this gift in Jesus Christ, our whole perspective on life changes. By rejecting this gift, our perspective and destiny is forever locked into a place of despair. By receiving it, our outlook on life changes, but not necessarily our immediate, physical existence. Regardless of our choice to receive or not to receive the gift, eternal consequences are set in place.
Acknowledging that you need to fill a gap, that you do not have a relationship with God, and then realizing you can’t do anything on your own to change your eternal destiny is the first step.
Believing that Jesus Christ, and only Jesus Christ, is the one who can provide the connection to God is the next step. This step is a doozy… it requires so much faith that only God can really help you believe. Strange concept, I know. But I didn’t make it up.
We submit our lives to something everyday. Whether it is the pursuit of wealth, success, happiness, a relationship, power, or simply survival, we submit our thoughts and actions to something beyond our physical existence. When we choose to take the path of being forever in the presence of God, we choose to submit to Jesus.
We sometimes think we lose control of our life’s situation. Funny thing is, we are not in control anyway. What better path in life could there be than to follow the person who created all and knows all?
